Is there a way to tell...

Re: Is there a way to tell...

If you are lucky and the clip has some movement in the scene, then is quite easy to check it in any NLE and look in detail to one frame. If you discover the "comb" effect, then is interlaced, otherwise an appearance like a still shot taken from a digital still camera, is progressive.

If you can analize the fields of a frame separately, then you can see it even better, but I would say that a single frame analysis is enoug to detect "i" or "p" shooting (if there is some movement of camera of elements in the take)

Re: Is there a way to tell...

If you can play the clip on a DVX you can tell by cycling through the time code/counter button. One of the settings will tell you the frame rate/cadence that the clip was recorded in.

Well, it's supposed to LOOK different! If you can't tell the difference then why bother... just messing with you. I had to get that shot in there ;)

Re: Is there a way to tell...

actually thats what i was thinking, I mean, 24p and 24pz would be really hard, but you should be able to tell 24 from 60i really easily just by looking at it
