Is there a fix for Avid's problem with 24pN?

Been out of the loop for a while on this discussion and I was wondering if there was a fix from focus yet for Avid having problem with P2 shot in 24pN. This is related to this issue with clips having "PMM_INSUFFICIENT_AUDIO" that does not allow you to play the clips in the preview windows or in the timeline.

I know there is a workaround but I'm mostly looking for information on a permanent solution.

Hmm. Never heard of this. Did you check the console to see what the issue might be? Maybe run a search over at the Avid forum.

I have been using 24pN extensively and not had any problems with playback (other than my missing A1 files but that was due to old firmware on the HVX).

I'm assuming that you're talking about MXF 24pN files from an FS-100. If so, there's no fix yet, but the last I heard/read, Focus is working on a v3.1 revision of the firmware. Hopefully, that will address the "PMM_INSUFFICIENT_AUDIO" error. As you noted, the only solution right now is the annoying, mildly time-consuming workaround.

I swear, sometimes this stuff is like doing open heart surgery with a rusty hatchet while wearing boxing gloves...

This is not an Avid problem per say, but a problem with Focus's Firestore. I just emailed them yesterday regarding their promise to have this issue fixed in an upcoming release (3.1).

I received an immediate response that they are still working on the problem and hope to have something resolved soon.
