is there a cable to fit a dynamic mic to a g2 wireless set instead of a xlr vbutt

Hi Guys,

just wondering if there is a solution to use a hand held mic like a Shure PG58 - Vocal Mic with a sennheiser g2 wireless kit? I need a xlr female plug to fit in to dynamic mic and then at the end a sennheiser plug to the g2 transmitter . anyone knows what to get such a cable?

I know that they sell the xlr butt to fit it into the mic, but what about a cable to fit to the transmitter instead?

Thanks
David

You mean like this? Or maybe this? I can't seem to find out how long the Sennheiser branded cable is. I'm looking for one about 1m long. Please let me know if you find one.

In the US, at least, Sennheiser sells a CM1 cable for just such a purpose. They also sell a very similar looking (and cheaper) CL2 cable, but that's designed for hooking to a line-level XLR output (like from a sound board) and will not block the voltage that the bodypack is sending up the line to power the lavalier condenser element. Don't know if these are the same in Europe, though...

I finally broke down and called Sennheiser Tech. Support and asked. My question was dynamic mic to sk100 g3 bodypack transmitter -- how? And they said Sennheiser CM-1 cable and adjust sensitivity to taste.

Now the problem is to find the cable. Everywhere I check it's out of stock. Sigh...

As far as I know, the CM-1 is not an official Sennheiser cable (it's not in the UK price list at all) and may have been made up by Sennheiser USA.

The important thing to realise is that this is not a normal cable and it has to have a blocking capacitor inside the XLR to prevent the plug-in power from the pocket transmitter getting into the dynamic mic.

In the UK the leads are made specially on request by Sennheiser UK.

I can see how you might think that. But Sennheiser technical support called it out for me. IOW, they seem to know about it, and recommended the CM-1 cable to me for my application. Make of that what you will.

As I said, I was speaking only for the USA, where the CM1 is most definitely in the Sennheiser pricelist. So it's official over here... :)

That's good news if it is - Sennheiser never used to do such a lead and Sennheiser UK used to make them specially in-house as and when required.

I have pointed Sennheiser UK to the US link and suggested they ought to find out and get it in the price list if is is a new official item.
