Is the MKH 415T compatible with the DVX100b?

There's a Sennheiser MKH 415T for sale and I'm wondering if it's
compatible with the DVX100b? It's suppose to be the same quality
as the MKH 416 - and if so, for $500, it's an amazing deal.

I've done a some research and have found little information on the
difference between them. There was a posting on DVXuser:

...but it wasn't terribly clear.

Can anyone bottom line it for me? Is $500 for basically an battery
powered MKH 416 too good to be true?

Thanks.

Not really. That's a "T" powered mic which is different from phantom power that the DVX has which makes it tricky. You can get a T power box to plug in between the camera and mic, but if in fact it is internally battery powered, then it might work out just fine. I wasn't aware that they made any with that feature though.
$500 for an old mic like that seems a little steep to me though, especially since you're buying old technology. It's a great mic though, and for the sound you get from it, I would recommend it over some of the newer shotguns in that price range. (I haven't heard them all yet)

Thanks Tim,

The 416 has always been a bit out of my price range, which is why I rent it when I need it. I'd like to own a shotgun though. I've resisted buying the ME-66 for fear it's a BIG drop in quality.

If you're not in a hurry...and you watch eBay...you can find better deals. I got a 416T for $400 w/power supply. Love it.
