Is the HMC40 lens parfocal?

I've been having a debate with a colleague about whether it's an acceptable practice to zoom in, manually focus and zoom out on the HMC40. She says that the camera will maintain focus when changing the zoom, while I'm less certain about that. Can we get a better-informed answer?
 
On the older cameras that didn't have autofocus...push focus and such luxuries, the accepted method for focus at different focal lengths was exactly as you describe. Zoom in and focus then zoom out. Even if the lens is not 100% accurate the huge DOF at wide will mean you are in focus anyway. I'm not sure if technically it would be perfect but optically yes, that's how you do it in manual. Grab your camera and try it!
