Is the Fuji or Canon "kit" lens good enough?

Guys,

Wondering if the $10k or thereabouts kit lenses for the HPX are decent enough. I know they breath a lot. I can live with that.

Also, do you know the 35mm film equivalent of the widest angle?

Thanks.

Some of the other threads in this forum regarding older SD and HD and film lenses have been intriguing to me. The few times I have used the HPX have been with the CAC Canon lens, it's a decent lens but the breathing drives me crazy.

If I were buying an HPX today, I would see what $10k buys me a in used higher end HD or film lens. They are out there. Or, I would buy the new B4 mount relay Letus and just rent real cine lenses.

depends on what you are doing.
if its just cine work, buy the letus new b4 adaptor and rent cine lenses.
if you need an ENG lens, then buy a used one from of the many used glass dealers out there and pay around 1/2 the retail rate. I have high end cinezoom and high end ENG that bought at around 1/2 price each, you just have to search a lot and be ready to pay between 13k to 20k

Personally I wouldn't own one of the cheap CAC lenses, unless you just want that as an option to people rent it out to for lower rental costs. My clients demand high quality.
