?? Is the DVX Broadcast quality?

I have a DVX100P and the church I'm with is growing and looking into recording broadcasting our services. I wanting to know if the DVX meets broadcast requirments and if so do I need to do anything in post as far as making it broadcast color safe.

I have Final Cut Express 2 on a PowerMac G5. I'm experienced with the camera and the software but I've never had any experience or knowledge as far as broadcast television goes. I know most stations want the format to be BETA or something like that.

Basically any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks

it is very much broadcats quality - most stations should be able to take mini DV otherwise you can transfer to beta sp for delivery at a local transfer house.

ANY camera can and will blow the legal specs of "broadcast safe" if it's not used correctly -- and even sometimes when it is.  You should have tools in FCP which allow you to get within them and keep you from color-correcting outside of them.

Oh, and you can also use something like DVRack to keep within the limits while you're shooting, but that's a PC-only app.

broadcast quality is different from broadcast safe.

For most networks, from what I remember, miniDV footage is generally slightly below their baseline standards.

If I remember correctly, it's an issue of the horizontal blanking.

Of course, is that enforced?  They let it slide...a lot.
