Is the Component Mini D4 Output High Defintion HD or Not?

Hello,

I don't have the camera with me at the moment I'll be borrowing it from someone. I need to know whether or not the component D4 output is HD or not. From the brochure it only talks about downconverting to HD.

From the looks of it HDMI is the only way to get a live HD signal out of this camera. I hope I'm wrong!

Component is an analogue signal. The quality will equal the HDMI output, but if you need it digital, some conversion will be needed; you won't be disappointed in the quality. Many TVs, and specialty devices display or convert such as monitors, Matrox boxes and the like.

OK cool. I just wanted to know whether I was going to have an HD signal or not because of the difference in color spaces. I'll be calibrating it to a chip chart so it's good to know it'll be HD.

The HMC40 is an HD-only camcorder; it can't record SD, so yes the component output is HD (although, you can have it downconvert to SD if you want to). So the component output can be either HD or SD, but it is usually HD.
