Is the 5D mark 2 dead?

I had a carpenter build me a wardrobe in my sons room 2 weeks ago. I hired him because I had seen his work and was told he was a nice chap. When he came through the door I paid no attention to the tools he was using, they had obviously served him well over the years as he was regularly employed and created beautifully finished furniture. His trusty old Dewalt circular saw looked beaten, but he could still make cuts like a hot knife through butter with it...

Oops wrong thread... I thought this was a DIY forums ... Sorry!! ;)

Just to let you guys know... His son bought the new 2012 Dewalt saw... They are both very happy with their Saw's.. And have never once questioned one another's decisions to purchase the tools they use.

Yeah but I'm yet to come across a circular saw that makes ants out of an actors eyebrows....erm excuse me could you please shave your eyebrows.

I think Scott Freestyle is likely a genius.

That's just some ages old wisdom right there and of course who couldn't agree that it's not the tool that counts, but how you use it. The MKII is nowhere near obsolete or "dead" and some of us prefer it. That is all.

The 5D3 is *not* softer than the 5D2. I shoot them side by side with the same lenses & the footage is indistinguishable.

Yep, so "indistinguishable" that there was a veritable movement at hand of people bent on removing the OLPF for what reason???:

" The video image quality now, is not the same 5D Mark III that came out weeks ago. It's as if the camera was transformed. "The mushiness is gone" It never made sense that 4 years later, all new chips , Digic 5, and the image was soft on the 5D Mark III. Well, we know why now."

Indeed! I still own & use my 5D2 but I just prefer my 5D3. My wife has stopped using her 5D2 now she has a 5D3 & in fact wants to replace it with another 5D3 but she shoots mostly stills.
