Is Shooting on HVX200 Tape Useless?

Yes you can plug the card straight into a laptop's PCMCIA slot and copy the contents over.

Having just one card is unnecessarily restrictive, but two 4GB cards can accomplish a tremendous amount.

You can.

oh cool, i didnt know u could copy over the data like that. i just read the FAQ's on the ipod function so thats cool apparently the people at panosonic actually have covered all their basis before putting this thing out.

yea i guess you're right about the p2 cards just will have to get 2 of them or an 8gb card. are there any places to get the p2 cards under $600 yet?

Two 4's are vastly preferable to one 8. (but two 8's are better than two 4's)

Everywhere. The 4gb card currently has a retail price less than $600, last I checked the retail was $550 and they're going for somewhere around $515 or so.

Well, it looks like I'm sticking with P2. I really do hate how expensive these things are but it appears that for reliability and convenience, they still can't be beat. I think I'll stick with 4 gigs though, once again since they're easier to archive to DVD. Thanks for all the info guys.
