My friend is getting his camera this Tuesday, and I will follow behind him in about a week. Ive heard Profeel is a great dealer, but are they a Panasonic dealer?

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Yes Profeel is a good reputable dealer. Check resellerratings.com for info on good/bad dealers, and then the panasonic website to see if they are authorized, most of them arn't

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Yes they are reputable, but they are not an authorized dealer of panasonic's proline.

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

So, does that mean anything? I was also thinking of buying the camera from them. Their price currently beats EVS. We've already established that Pro Feel is a reputable business so are there any pitfalls to buying from a non-authorized Panny dealer?

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Im not sure of the pitfalls, but typically and "authorized" dealer has to have certain levels of service and standards. (Think 5 Star Ratings)

Not to say Profeel does not (I dont know; Ive never had any experience with them). If Jarred says their cool, Im sure they are.

I was planning to buy my DVX from Profeel within the next two weeks. Even with tax, their price is lower than EVS (I live in NY). I've purchased another Panasonic 3 chip camera from them awhile back (pre-DVX) and two digital still cameras. Great service and prices. However, someone above said that EVS gives a discount to DVXuser.com members. What's the discount?

I don't think that the guys are essentially pushing you to purchase from an authorized Panny dealer, but what they are saying is that there are certain perks to dealing with ANY good authorized dealer. Primarily, that you are backed up in returning a defective camera to the dealer withing 14 days without any expense to you except for shipping, knowing that the dealer can easily ship the camera back to Panasonic in that time frame and get it replaced themselves without any trouble from Panasonic. I have to ask Jan, but I don't think un-authorized Panny dealers can do that easily, since they themselves have to buy from a dealer like us, so they have to go through more hoops to return a camera to Panasonic, if at all possible. Therefore some (Not Profeel) tend to give you the runaround if you try to return a camera. They are also correct that we have to abide by certain rules in marketing, sales, and customer support.

Also, I think the guys are excited because DVXusers get great deals form EVS on other accessories, not just the camera, if they choose to buy them (Tripods, cases, lighting, audio,) plus honesty and up-front timelines for special orders, 50+ pricing on all videotape even if you buy just one tape, and great shipping discounts. I personally enjoy making DVXusers happy, since I feel like Jarred's backyard has become my regular hangout. ;D Thanks Jarred, and everybody else, I love being part of this crowd!

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Rush,

Just sent you an e-mail. I'll be eager to hear from you. I hope to purchase in the next two weeks or so.

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Cool Magicdave, I will check it at work tomorrow morning. Thanks for giving me a chance to bid for your biz! ;D

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

I am a newbie here and I just purchased my DVX from them two weeks ago. Excellent service...had it in three days and very little upselling or pressure to buy anything else. I highly recommend them.

I think most people here are just plain friendly. You can try all day to make friends with a wild boar, and he'll still ram you when you turn around. ;D

Anyone ever read Asterix and Obelix comics?

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Gee, Rush ! Do you know them ? They're like national icons over here ! :D :D

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Sure, I grew up reading them, and actually (Get this) had some of the French versions (Mon dieux!).  Hence the "Wild Boar" reference. I learned a lot of french from them.  Excellent quality, great stories, so many great characters.  I also read "Tintin", right along the same type of great artwork.

Re: Is Profeel a Panny dealer??.

Speaking of national icons...(I know I am going to date myself), but I am sitting here watchin' a RUSH DVD and looking at my pair of tickets for their June show here in Dallas.

Sorry.  They have always been my favorite band and everytime I see Rush's name up here I think of em'.  And with so many Canadians here... Our Lady Peace is pretty cool too.

Oh well, I digress.   :)
