Is Premiere CS5 a possible solution for 25P GH2 owners?

So you can shoot 24Mbps at 24P but only 17Mbps at 25P on the gh2, is that right? Can you shoot 24P at 24Mbps on the PAL version as well or just the NTSC version?

If you live in PAL land, could you just shoot 24FPS to get the higher quality, then import it onto a 24p timeline, then create a 25p timeline, tansfer it and it should still work fine?

I shoot 25fps on the gh13, and often mix istock royalty free footage in 24 and 30fps with it on a 25P timeline, and it all playes fine and exports prefectly.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

THANKS

Yes of course you could edit on a 25p timeline, in FCP or CS5 or whatever, but this would mean that the 24p is an effective 4% Overcrank, so peoples movement would be slightly faster, their voices would be slightly pitched up... this isn't usually an issue for Pal shot cinema release as it goes the other way (25p > 24p).

I was refering more to Premiere CS5 being able to play footage of different frame rates together in the same timeline, at the same speed that they were shot in.

AFAIK, there is no such thing as variable frame-rate timeline in an NLE. Not that is impossible to implement. You have to pick a timeline for the entire feature and all sequences dropped into it will be conformed. At least that's how I understand the operation of Premiere CS5 (or any other major NLE for that matter).

What makes PPCS5 unique (other than the incredible Mercury Playback Engine, of course) is that is can, in real time, import footage of different frame rates (eg 24 and 30P into a 25P timeline) and add or drop frames to make them play seamlessley with your original footage.

I'm not sure exactly how it does it, but I would assume it uses a similar process to CINEMA TOOLS, AFTER EFFECTS and NEOSCENE, but unlike those programs, it does it on the fly.

As Keanu Reeves said in The Matrix....Whoah.

Hi
Is this really true? I guess not.... What will happen if I mixed fx. 1080 25p 5

From a hmc 151 with some 1080i 50 fromma gh2 in ppro cs5? Wojld I be able to export this to a 1080 25p with no problems at all?
I have only read about issues when it comes to get gh2 to make something like 1080 25p. One have to deinterlace or use the much better 24 p and speed it up to get 25 p with issues like bad sync and jitter.
