Is Japanese GH1 Made in Japan ?

I have a Japanese GH1 and of course almost everythign on or in the box is in Japanese. The serial block is missing from the box, so not sure what might have been there or not.

I have read various threads referring to Japanese GH1s vs. American ones. These discussions surrounded the sensors, and eluded to the cameras having been built in Japan.

No where have I been able to find out, if the Japanese and US models are all made in China or if Japan made their own locally.

Does anyone know for sure and might be able to point me toward some supporting documentation ?

if your serial number starts with F its japan if its W its china. thats the general consensus

Do a google language translation from English to Japanese for "made in Japan." I think you will then find the same characters on your GH1. (I did on my Japanese GH1)
