Is Jan hinting at a new lens at NAB?

From her twitter, "Wait til you see the AF100 on set! What a lens! Pictures starting Sunday after Press conference."

Dang, if that hint was any heavier it would've dented the floor when it hit. Looking forward to it and whatever else NAB brings (as long as it's not a Canon that'll make me wish I had bought it instead, doh!).

BGundu, send me a link so I can send a picture to post. Jeez you guys are so impatient. We are not doing any new lenses but wait till you see the pictures that this one makes.

;-)

PS this would definitely be a rental lens.

We are impatient but we just want to have MORE TOYS to play with our AF100. :)

Thanks for indulging us Jan!

So, it's definitely a rental!

Yes, the lens is worth 5X the cost of the camera, but you really should see the images it makes. Its like, there is no way a <$5000 camera could make that picture. ANd I am happy to say it is the AF100 along with this lens of course. ;-)

That looks familiar! Our Arri Alura 18-80mm T2.6 Cine Zoom has been working with our AF100's since January. We use an Arri MMB-1 with it as well, and Zacuto FF, Hot Rod Cameras AF100 Tuner Kit/Element Technica Hybrid Baseplate/12" Dovetail. No breathing, no ramping, color matched to modern Ziess primes. Great combo!

Maybe you can show a comparison to, say, a Panasonic 14-140mm?

There is none. The lumix lenses self-implode into little pieces in the presence of that piece of glass.

According to Stephen Hawking it's the gravitational pull from the Arri that shreds lesser so-called "lenses". That thing looks like it might have an event horizon :Drogar-Love(DBG):

Was going to say thats the same as Dino's lens.

Has to do with that lens being a strong attractor - photons tend to become drawn to plummet into it in the hope to meet a goddess called "The Great Sensor" and by that becoming transcended into the big story.
