I'm from the UK and I'm interested in the XH-A1 camera. Now in here it costs £2500 just the camera but I've seen a better offer in a US store for £1800 and with 5 years warranty, it comes up to £2177 :o

But in the US they have NTSC cameras, that camera is NTSC or PAL, cause if it is NTSC it won't be of use (unless you need one) in the UK.
An about the warranty, I'm sure that only US people qualify for it (but don't qute me on this...)

Ow crap, totally forgot about the NTSC/PAL system :(

Can it not be modified from NTSC to PAL via the black market

Just stopping in to say that when I saw the thread title I thought it said "Is it worth buying KIDS from abroad?" and I came in to make some stupid joke as usual.

 Now, carry on...

It happened to someone I know, they went to NY on holydays and they bought a cheap hd handycam........ Imagine the surprise when they came back.......

about the black market......don't think it's worth and even possible.

For US $500 the camera can be sent to Canon to make it NTSC/PAL switchable. The only caveat would be the warranty, but I personally think it's still a better deal unless there are import fee/taxes involved.

Just received mine the other day .
It doesn't understand a damn word I say and the kid keeps falling apart.
I want my money back.
