This may sound like a crazy question, but do you think its possible to replicate the picture quality and style from movies at home using the right facilities (hd camera, final cut pro, etc)?

Yes. I watched a blu-ray of STRICKEN last night on an eight foot reflective screen shot there by a high quality HD projector. The picture was crisp, and the detail was wonderful.

The images were shot with an HVX200, the RED ONE and Panasonic Lumix GH1. The movie was edited with CS4, AfterEffects, Mocha, etc.

Sound was done by initially getting great sound and then using a high quality sound team to do sound design, dialogue and foley. Score was done by a quality composer.

Check out the STRICKEN thread from start to finish and you will have a lot of help in doing this yourself. You CAN do it.

Best regards! :D

It's more than possible. It's done everyday by someone.
