Is it my settings?

Hi!

I just hooked up my Rode Videomic to my GH1 and I am doing some test shots. When I am playing tham back in FCP, the left channel is at -8db while the right is at -48db. Needless to say, I need the channels to be even. Is it something I am doing wrong? DO I need to change my settings? Please help!!!

Thanks!
Matt

Sounds like the mic plug isn't properly connected to the camera socket - it's quite hard to find an adapter which fits well as the camera body shrouds the socket rather closely. Here I had to shave down the plug body with a sharp knife to get a proper connection.

While the audio is pretty good on the GH1, its very limited. If you have a DVX use it for audio that's what I do. The GH1 audio is ok for home projects but you need more control for serious stuff. The DVX is comparable to a DAT or so I'm told and so far it is working for me(and providing some backup footage).

We are going to try a different adaptor, and if that doesnt work, I guess I will have to alter the body of the camera.

THanks!
