Is it just me or does the more you read make the choice more and more difficult?

That sounds like a plan! I would recommend getting the GH1 with the kit lens though, it's a great lens to have...unless you are planning on using the T2i for all wide work, in which case you could save some money by getting GH1 body only...although the kit lens really is a great lens for all kinds of reasons. Anyway, the lens used for this shot was the Lumix 20mm f/1.7

We had one tiny bounce board to fill in a little bit of detail here...wish we had more so we could have gotten them closer and used one for each guy.

Also I feel like the Zacuto latitude chart test was a bit unfair to the GH1...they did some weird things that could have effected latitude negatively...if I recall it was shot at a higher ISO.

I had planned to use the Sigma 20mm F1.8 for my wide work on the T2i so I could get great low light wide shots and some shallower wide shots as well.

I'm gonna keep that in mind for when I start shooting.

Yeah, I now notice it was strange aperture and ISO setting compared to the rest.

Not to mention out of focus. Bloom says the lens they used on the GH1 couldn't focus close enough, but what I don't get is why they didn't just use the same lens that they used on one of the other cameras for that situation? Anything can be adapted to GH1 and the crop factor would mean the camera could actually be further back (which by the way is a point for crop factor....a 60mm Nikon macro becoming a 120mm is pretty impressive. Even the kit lens' ability to focus to around a foot at 280mm equivelant makes for some pretty awesome close up shots of things.

I have a GH1, 5D Mark II & a 7D. I vastly prefer to shoot with the GH1 - very rarely (on second thought, never) do I get surprised by any kind of moire or aliasing problem that ruins the shot like I get with the Canons. Mud has not been an issue in anything I've shot with it yet (Four 12-15 minute shorts, one 30 min doc, segments & b-roll of 3 broadcast travel show episodes & hours of personal use video) Only one of those shorts that I shot was done on sticks, everything else has been handheld.

I own some legacy glass (28 f/2 & 50 f/1.8), but mostly shoot with native m4/3 lenses. The 20mm is amazing in low-light & the 7-14mm rates among the highest echelon of lenses I've ever used, including Leica & any L series glass with an equivalent FOV.

To me, the GH1 is the most underrated & probably the best value in video DSLR's right now.

Very interesting, but if I went with just the GH1 would I be pretty much screwed for very low light shooting and fast wide shooting in low light? Could I use the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 lens with the GH1?

Which 20mm lens are you referring to that is amazing in low light? That 7-14mm is quite nice from the image I just looked at, but quite pricey and not fast for low light shooting, unfortunately.

20mm f/1.7.

The Tokina will work with on the GH1 if you get a Nikon mount one and a nikon adaptor with a bolt for controlling aperture.

Gh1 does pretty well low light....street stuff is available light with a 50mm f/1.4 but I think the opening shot is Sigma 24mm f/1.8.

That video does look great, but how would it do under just one or two street lights?

Could I use the Sigma 20mm F1.8 or Sigma 30mm F1.4 on the GH1? Also, is there a decent Wide Angle Adapter I could use to get an actual wide angle on the camera with these lenses on the GH1?

I'm sticking with my 7D until a more perfect cam comes out (ala the 5D with proper video monitoring or the 7D with the 5D firmware upgrades and/or adding image stabilization to the camera ala GH1)

So City of Lakes was shot with the 7D and 5D mark 2?

I'm curious as to what went into getting that "look". I haven't seen anything THAT good done with these camera except for that. Unless someone else has some more examples..

I want to upgrade to one of these from an HV40 as soon as I finish this first film with it. I won't be shooting anything but feature horror mostly, so low light is the high point for me. But I want to get something that looks like this...this was shot with a GH1.. which is making me consider it heavily..
