Maybe it's a fad, but seems like every other vid is a timelapse these days. Dont get me wrong, they are cool for what they are, but their getting old quick. How many skylines, traffic, and beach shots can you watch before going crazy?

im getting tired of bokeh shots and no content "shortfilms" just a static photo of a streetsign, a flower, astick, a chain a fence, or wahtever.

What I'm getting tired of is skateboarding videos with fisheye lenses.

Yea I know what you mean. :furious3:

I'm branching out myself. :)

I now offer fisheye dentistry portraits, soon in ***3D***.

Eat my dust Cameron.....

Great thread!

And, no, good timelapse usually helps a production, even if the EP says he/she doesn't want any, they'll thank you later if you shoot them anyway.

I'm tired of people shooting timelapse to make it interesting because they can't find interesting things to shoot. If it wouldn't have looked good as one photo it won't look good as one hundred photos. I'm tired of people going in and out of focus to be artistic and 'film like' when it doesn't at all fit. I'd be okay with montage videos if the subject were incredible, but it rarely is. I'm also tired of Adobe telling me 16 products can be updated. I don't think I even have that many programs on here.

even the good ones get boring after a about a minute or so. Maybe because there's usually no story involved. As said above, if you were to add a timelapse to enhance your story, then i think it works. but timelapse set to music just seems over done. I do have to say, I though Bloom's airline flight timelapse, was really cool. I haven't seen that done before.

timelapse vids are played out... so is the "camera test" vids consisting of landscape shots set to bad orchestral music. I still dont understand those.. so you have an F3 and all you can shoot are boring static scene's and jittery pans.

As with anything, a "look" or technique can be over-used. It's a fad. I always think about the "music band against the brick wall" photos. The first few were cool, then everyone did them, and then the look got old.

Even slo mo can be over-used/not used right. I like both effects, but it has to help the story/idea. Otherwise it's just a band-aid for more serious problems.

Oh come on!

You know if it hadn't been for timelapse videos, we wouldn't have the REALLY cool stuff.

Like timelapse videos on timer sliders.

I painted my house, and then set up my camera so I could video it in timelapse. I figured if watching paint dry was boring, it should be twice as good in timelapse.

Timelapse tutorials are getting a bit useless. Some used to be fine but now some of these 'watch-me-work' timelapses which are called tutorials are for the most part completely useless because they skip over too much information. It's almost become a show-off in some cases.
I think a speed up of around %100 is fine, double speed, but these 1 frame every 1 or 2 seconds things are basically useless.

Timelapse vids of nature/weather I never get tired of. If it's done without a purpose, as in without purposes of observation or education, then yeah, it seems pointless sometimes.
