is intensity pro needed for the hvx200?

You don't need a capture card to capture.

You do need something to enable you to monitor. How many times do we have to say it? You cannot monitor accurate video on a computer monitor.

Yes i fully understand that now. I just cant believe the hvx has no sdi in it. i guess that why it reflected the price. I personaly rather pay an aditional thousand for that on the camera.

I'm onboard with the SDI to calibrated SDI NTSC calibrated monitor... but how is using HDLink to DVI Dell 24" close to color calibrated? The Dell's still a computer monitor... I guess I'm asking if anyone has experience doing color correction this way, and how accurate is it?

From that either go SDI to something like the Panasonic LH1700. But using the Decklink HDLink you could go to a DVi monitor like a Dell 24". Using the HDLink to DVI monitor would be a very good compromise solution.
