Hi there,
So this means with 4:2:2, that this camera should be great for Greenscreen work right?
Thanks,
Derrick

I'd like to see the sequence if you come across it and have the notion to put up a link.Graeme_Nattress said:Stephen, I think I still have the capture on my system, but it's a FCP .mov rather than a raw MPEG stream. It looked awful in camera, too, played back on both CRT and LCD monitors. In shots where I tried to provoke the macroblocking, I often failed, but that one just caught it right - slow enough to see the artifacts, not fast enough to blur the level of detail down enough.
HDV is too compressed - you really can't do much in post with it, especially if it means brightening it up.
But...
DVCproHD is nearly as bad in this regard.
Mostly down to 8bit video and very, very high compression of the darker areas of the image removing the natural noise that would dither the image and stop the visibility of the artifacts.

There is a setting in the camera that forces the red channel called WhitePaint <R> which will enhance the warm effect after white balance. Maybe your group changed that setting? or the setting was changed initially?Barry_Green said:It's weird -- this shadow seems to primarily affect the red channel; you can see a lot of red shadowing all over the place on anything that moves, her hair gives off a red glow as it bounces and her hands have a weird red tracking shadow.
