GH2 Is GH2 better than GH13? How does the mud compare?

Hi

Last week I bought a GH1 after looking into which DSLR type camera would be best for me. I hacked it immediately.

I am sending my GH1 camera back tomorrow and buying a GH2 instead. The main reason for this is that the GH2 in low light seems to be much better than the GH13, specifically the ability to use higher iso's with cleaner results and have less FPN. I don't own a lighting rig or carry one around with me, and I won't always be in control of the lighthing, so better low light performance is a great plus.

My only concern is that the GH2 daylight performance won't be as good as my hacked GH1 at 32mbit/sec or even 50mbit/sec. So my question is how much worse is the GH2 than the GH1 in daylight? I don't need as perfect as the 50mbit/sec mode is on the GH1, but I'd like to know that it's nowhere near the performance of the unhacked GH1 which can get horribly muddy. How do they compare?

GH2, from what we've seen is nearly always superior a1 1080 24p. At 720p though, I feel the GH13 has the advantage (as long as you have one without the later banding problems).
 
How big is the difference between 720p modes? It is only small, i.e. you need to pixel peep to see it, or is it big like the difference between an unhacked GH1 and hacked GPH at 1080 24p?
 
Good question - would love to hear the answer. Just picked up a reasonably priced GH13 as couldn't afford GH2 in Australia...
 
Search my username for endless comparison on this topic. GH13 performance varies A LOT according to hack settings and if the cam was made in China or Japan and just plain luck of your sensor - GH2 has known better low light performance but it also has known codec issues in shadow areas (blocks mud mush) so it's a toss up. I find the GH13 hacked correctly preferable to a GH2 as I have lights and the image quality and detail is far more important to me than low light performance, but your personal mileage may vary.

Blackout I know we have discussed this before. However, have you compared the GH2 1080p @ 30 FPS mode to the GH13 @ 24 FPS? I hadn't really given it a second thought until this weekend because it doesn't record audio. Then I tried it and was actually amazed that it looked better than the 1080p @ 24 FPS mode. I still haven't figured out why it is better but it looks better. Now we are not talking about 50 mb/sec good but still better.

Do you have any samples of the exact same scene that shows the benefits of the GH13 over the GH2? I assume all of those benefits are nullified once you re-encode the file to a lossy format?
