Is foamcore good for flags?

Hi, I was wondering if I could use foamcore (solid foam between two sheets of carton, about 1/4" thick) panels as flags to cut light. I usually use worklights or redheads. Is the heat produced by the lights too hot and is there an danger for the foam to melt or the paper to burn?

Any other ideas for cheap flag material?

Thanks

I don't see any reason not to use them as flags. I guess it would depend on the light wattage and how close to the light it is

Black foam core is fine for use as a cheap flag (white doesn't work as well due to spill and reflections) as it can be cut and bent as needed but be aware that it doesn't hold up well in high heat so be careful when using it close to larger instruments.

You can buy black "gatorboard"...tougher (and a bit thinner) than foam core.
Holds up well for flags and cookies. tape the edges, as this stuff can be sharp.
Hope this helps.
