I can't get it to be detected to capture in Premiere Pro 2.0... am I missing some drivers or something?

It's really weird, because I got Vista Business and got not problem at all with it. Are you accessing via Firewire?

I'm not sure...

I'm not sure...

Maybe it's Premiere Pro 2.0. What version of Premiere do you use?

I'm pretty much up to the point of reformatting with XP, I backed everything up and all..

I have a 4pin to 4pin connector that goes in my laptop and the camera, it makes a "Dun dun" hardware detected sound effect, but nothing pops up and it says Capture Device Offline

Yeap folk, mine works flawlessly with Vista. BTW my NLE is Vegas 5, I don't like pretty much Adobe Premiere to edit. Be aware when connecting your camcorder to the pc via firewire turn the camera off before plugging into.
Good Luck!

Under your Device Manager does it show the DVX100B with a yellow exclamation mark next to it? I tried to click Update Driver but it said I had a bus problem.

I'm thinking maybe Vista Home Premium just isn't compatible with DVX100's... I wanted to reformat, but it's basically so impossible to reformat a Vostro 1500, even Dell panicked when I started to ask about it.

In my own opinion, you got some problem with the Firewire connection. I can't tell you if it's from software or hardware, but something's wrong there. Try to connect another device into the firewire connector to see if it works.

I have Vista Home Basic on my laptop and have no problem using it with the Adobe OnLocation. I really doubt it has anything to do with Vista. I too, think it has something to do with your firewire connection.

The device manager is saying it is a hardware problem, but it is most likely the firewire port itself and not the OS. Try rebooting the computer and keep it connected - if you are using a hub, try bypassing the hub.
