(Talking about compatibility With the EF R adaptor of course). The 18-80 is a bit less Cine than the other ones... but maybe still not compatible ?

Thinking of getting a smaller camera (than the Cine series) to the 18-80 for some occasions. But maybe it only works with the DSRLs. Why in that case?

The lens is designed for the cinema cameras.

AF and auto-iris didn't work on the 5D Mark IV the last time I checked 2 years ago, so I'm assuming it's the same on the R if a firmware update never fixed it.

Besides that, it should work fine in the cropped modes.

Thanks for the reply! I didn’t know the AF did not work on the 5DIV. That is a pity. You cannot REC command from the Zoom holder either I guess then?? It makes it a pretty impractical combo in that case.
Regarding R camera - I saw a Canon Video that said it was not compatible but don’t know if it was the mount or the electronics or what. Really pity, would like to try the ergo with the 18-80 and a DSLR/mirrorless.

Argh. A pity. They should then really Make an XC10/15-Style interchangeable Cinema EOS Cam. Would be a nice combo ergonomically w the 18-80 sometimes.

People have wanted something like that for many years (even before those two above)...just something more powerful in a smaller, similar form factor.

I like the XC10/15 body, but the lens makes the camera useless.
