Is Birger capable of producing what they have been promising for almost a year?

It boggles the mind that this company would just set aside the market of FS100 owners after all their hype. If I can make any sense of this convoluted announcement, they think that there is no market for an FS100 (or AF100) product, at least in comparison with the F3 market. Astonishing to me, especially since the price point of the FS100 is 1/4 that of the F3 (one would assume that there are therefore MANY more FS100 owners than F3 owners, but what do I know). What a weird world we live in.

It sounds to me like Birger has been stuck on the idea that remote follow focus is what the world really wants and needs, while auto-focus, auto-iris, iris control and IS are secondary (remotely) to potential customers. I think they're nuts. Either that or the electronics/controls for the FS100 and AF100 are just much more complicated than they thought (and they can not deliver on this product), and they do not want to admit this publicly.

So it looks like us ENG types will be stuck with the kit lens for some time to come.

Does anyone know if the Sony 16-55mm f/2.8 has IS?

That quote is inaccurate. The email from Birger stated that they were FIRST going to release an F3 mount with E-mount and MFT to follow later. The email itself has been posted on this forum by a few people so this is easy to verify.

It is not my place to make public certain knowledge I am privy to based on my position. I can state that certain aspects are not under Birger's control.

You would not want to say if Canon were applying muscle to make their new camera have a USP over the F3 of course.

If that is the case they are just closing themselves out of selling me any glass!

Please don't put words in my mouth or start rumors. Canon has nothing to do with this.

My (probably wrong) guess is that he gets to play with a lot of this stuff before it hits the streets - I assumed he was talking from experience

But then Canon and their reps need to sustain a market for the cine line of lenses.. which I why I alluded to them (canon) potentially trying to sit on (third party) tech that devalue them by providing great functionality for the 'cheap' lenses

All i want is a decent hand/lanc controller for focus - dont care who provides it - even redrock (!) - although Id prefer nikkon G as thats where my $ currently sit
