Is anyone familiar with the Tripod Dolly

Tripod Dollies really only serve to enable someone to move a tripod from Point A to Point B and so forth. They aren't that good for tracking moves and what not. Maybe if you had a super smooth surface but that's about it.

I use mine in my studio on carpet and the only thing it really does for me is enable me to move my tripod between shots.
 
You will need a track dolly to have really smooth shots. thats basically just for easy movement around studios and locations so you do not have to lift up your stuff.
 
Yeah, this looks like a tool for moving the tripod between shots. I did see a local news guy use a device once that I have never been able to find. It was like ghetto dolly tracks that looked like the old school hot wheels tracks (but metal instead of plastic) and then he had a dolly like the one above (but unidirectional) with a handle used for "gripping". Anyone know that that is??
