Is anyone else perturbed by the lens situation on the AF100?

I'm now awaiting a Nikon adapter so I can use my collection of Nikon still lenses. The 50mm 1.8 looks especially nice paired up with the AF. I think it's going to make a great "interview" lens.
I bet it will be great. I've got a Nikkor 55mm 1.2 that looks wonderful on the AF100. - Tim

I have a great deal of experience with the excellent Birger mount on the Red camera. I would prefer if there was an ultrawide faster than f2.8. While the fact that industry focus pullers have no experience of this kind of system is a big drawback - it will hardly bother owner/users at all. It also has several advantages over cine glass; affordable wireless, very light compared to cine glass and a vast range of lenses. Birger will not deliver the product until it meets their onerous standards, whilst this demands patience it will ultimately result in greater peace of mind. I hope they ship soon.

I'm not perturbed...

I just picked up a set of Zeiss ZF.2 primes for the AF100 and love 'em.

For those who cannot justify buying the CP.2 primes at $3900 each, the ZF.2's are a great alternative. Novoflex adapter and you're ready to go. And you can have Duclos cine-mod them for $250 each. I'll probably sell my 4 Oly Zuiko lenses now.

The Duclos (Tokina) 11-16 cine-mod looks pretty interesting, too.

I have the original ZFs and they are really exquisite. I keep meaning to send them to Duclos for the Cine-Mod, which would be icing on that cake.

I just started shooting with the Zeiss CP.2 as well. Amazing lenses. Well worth the investment. They will last you a lifetime if cared for. Lenses have such a long life that, for me, they are a much easier investment to make. Will my AF100 be obsolete in 3 years? Probably. Will my Zeiss CP.2? Absolutely not. My favorite lens is still an old Nikon AI 50mm built in 1976. It's older than me and shoots a gorgeous image. Don't be afraid to take the plunge on a quality lens that is purpose built. My L-series glass is all relegated to taking stills. Honestly, I never used them much for motion work anyway. Great lenses but I always like to use the right tool for the job.
