Is Amazon an Authorized Dealer?

Was just looking at amazon for a price and they are a little cheaper and living in cali no tax and free shipping. I understand Rush and EVS are great, but i always consider total price when it comes to something that will tap me out for the whole year. A few saved hundred dollars can go a long way with me.

Probably not.
The reason for this is you aren't buying from Amazon, you are buying from 3rd party companies through amazon. I'm sure the prices are probably cheaper but remember, you get what you pay for.
 
Exactly right Stefan. It really depends which company you are buying from on Amazon.com. As far as I know there aren't that many authorized dealers going through Amazon.
 
Be careful about a month ago Amazon advertised Canon XL1s for as little as 300.00 I of course jumped at the chance and tried to order one. Everytime I ordered Amazon would notify me that the sellar could not accept Amazon payments and the seller would try to get me to send my address etc. Everyday the sellers email address changed(seller12@soAndso became seller22@soAndso) and a new ad would appear. I emailed Amazon(ticked off as I was) and they said they would investigate. The ads continues for a few days and suddenly disappeared. If it looks to good to be true then it probably is.

Do you remember if they had a good seller rating or not? I always use that when buying at Amazon just like on eBay. I think it is actually harder to get a good rating on Amazon because it only includes sales, no purchases. OTOH, you can't see what they sold, so someone could be great with small items, then scam you for a camera.
 
They actually did have a good rating. Thats what was so strange how did they sell anything before if they couldn't accept Amazon payments?. It was weird, I don't know what was up but who wouldn't want an XL1s for a backup cam for 300.00?
