Is a NTSC HVX200 camera best for worldwide distribution

I tried this question previously with no responses. I will be producing shows for worldwide distobution. I have three HVX200 NTSC cameras. I normally shoot on 720p 24 frame. I am looking at working with a company in the netherlands to produce shows for a wordwide distribution, so all NTSC, PAL, and SECAM.

Here is the primary question:

If I shoot in 720 24p, is a NTSC cam best for worldwide distrobution?
NTSC: conversion from 24p to NTSC looks great (like film)
PAL: conversion from 24p to 25p/50i? Will this work?

Questions:

1. Has anybody done this yet?
2. I know it is technically possible, but has anybidy seen conversion from 720HD to these formats. It is excellent, really good, OK, bad?
3. What is the best method to do this? I use a Mac and FCP. I can use FCP, cinema tools. I know about other programs like Nattress Conversions or DVFilm Atlantis. Anyone used these?
4. Any other thought appreciated.

bump.

Good question. I have a 24p HVX and I am in a 25p zone. I have access to both 24p and 25p HVX cams, and similarly, I am wondering if it makes better sense to shoot 24p or 25p for a global market feature. I know I can transcode either way, though I am also curious if there is an advantage to go 24p or 25p. In the end, either one will require a transcoded version of my 1080p master.

Anyone?

it hsouldnt matter. how do they show foreign film here..??? they jsut slow it down 1 frame a sec..... OR show an american film there, speed it up. no problems really.

Yes Timur, just a 4.x% speed change and slight pitch shift on the audio. Just have to be sure not to interpolate frames for a progressive master. I'll run it by the VFX house when we get into pre. Otherwise, one might just flip a coin. :D (just kidding)

Timur, I encode/edit HVX files using Prospect HD Cineform codec. The Cineform HDLink utility application has the function to transcode many different rates, including 25p to 23.976p or 23.976p to 25p, with or without the 'Maintain Audio Pitch' option. I will do some tests in due course to ensure interpolation does not occur, though unlikely, as it refers to -4.1% and +4.1% 'Rate Change', respectively. It would appear I have all global mastering tools, I just have to decide if a specific project in the future should be sourced at 24p or 25p. 25p seems to have a few advantages because of my location and my 24p HVX has the advantage of producing 2.5x slowmo over the 25p HVX having a max slowmo of 2.0x.
