Is 24 fps the only native format for the af 100?

Hello everyone, I bought an AF100 about a week ago. I recently printed the instruction manual vol.2 and on the first page I read this :
24P mode: Shoot 24 frames a second in the progressive mode. The video signal will be recorded natively. However, the external output signal is converted to a 2:3 format, 60 fps interlaced signal.
25P mode:Shoots 25 frames a second in the progressive mode. For output and recording of video signal, the 25-frame-per-second image is converted to 50-field-per-second interlace signal. This mode gives high quality images
I'm really confused, it leads me to two questions :
First does that mean that we can not have true 24fps/25fps with this camera?
And do I need to deinterlace my footage while working on my NLE (vegas pro 11)?
Can someone help me with that please. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Yes of course you have true 24fps/25fps. What gets recorded is true progressive 1080p.

But when playing the footage out to a TV, it has to convert that to a broadcast standard, which means 60i or 50i.

And no, you must never deinterlace the progressive footage!

Thank you so much barry, I bought your book months before I bought the camera, I studied it and I dived into it again as well as into the operating manual and stuff found on the internet since last week. My brain is full, it has reach it's limits hence the confusion. I need a break! I wanted to say that I live in france (50hz country) but I ultimately chose to set the camera to 60hz for the color bar with pluge (so helpfull) and because I want to bieleve that 24fps is more cinematic than 25fps (yeah I know it's only in my head but, hey, it makes me happy!! :)). Again thanks a lot for your work and books.
