irregular focus damping

hey, I'm a new DVX owner and just wanna say that this forum has been infinitely helpful.

I've put about 3 hours on my DVX so far, but just noticed last night that the focus ring tends to stiffen up at the same point during every revolution. I don't see that it's contacting the lens hood at any point...is this normal?

I don't think that it is normal. Every DVX that I have worked with had a pretty nice and even nature to the focus ring.
 
It sounds like there might be something stuck in your focus ring. You might need to have it looked at.
