Iris Wheel question..

I see the AF100 has an iris wheel in a similar place to the HVX etc...

When using a "proper" cine lens with T-Stop ring, what does one do with the Iris Wheel?

Is it disabled automatically or ...?

It turns into a magic dummy knob for when one of your clients decides they want to give input on your already perfect work.

"Can you maybe enhance the image somehow?"

You: "Sure! (knob knob knob) How's this?

"Wonderful! Perfect!" :cheesy:

Jester.... wonderful stuff. I often let them rant, then I don't do anything, and then they are like... hey, I don't know what you did but now it's wonderful. People like to *****..... hence so much of what makes this forum fun and frustrating.

Ya know...they actually sell dummy knobs for audio and editing suites. Like really fancy rackmounted ones with lights and a ton of buttons and stuff. I find that hysterical!

"Hold on...let me run the signal through my Autograder 3100, just gimmie a sec to tweak the settings..."

"WOW!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!"

There is no iris in the AF100. The iris wheel is an electronic control that instructs the lens to open or close its iris. If you're using a manual-only lens, there's nothing for the iris wheel to do.

Thanx Barry

I actually had a play with the camera last night and confirmed that for myself in the process.

Must admit also...I could not get it to enhance the image either!

:-)

Back in the days of when I was a linear online editor, I would make a few fake keystrokes and then just preview the same edit again.

Worked every time.

Once had someone request that I change the music on a particular piece...I was making some other tweaks, but hadn't had time to change the music before they asked to see it again. Their reaction:

"It's just so much nicer with the different music. I'm really glad you changed that."

Yeah, me too.
