Iris Stopped Working Adaptimax - Urgent

I have the adaptimax plus with a tokina 16 50. Everything has worked great all week and suddenly my iris is practically closed and the screw on the adaptimax plus does not open it at all. Please help; I have an interview in a half hour!

Thanks

Take the lens off the adapter. Try to jiggle the pin on the back of lens. After you fix the iris, use some tape on the pin to hold iris open abd not use the adapter until you figure out whats going on with it.

Hi Jim,
unscrew the thumbscrew all the way out. Take the lens off the Adaptimax. If the lens has an external aperture ring make sure you haven't inadvertantly closed the iris. Does the thumbscrew move easily on its thread? If it has failed, we guarentee our adapters so a replacement will be sent out to you via Fedex International Priority. email me at sales (at) adaptimax.com. It's late here so I probably won't answer until the morning.

If this is the case, follow Bgundu's post.

Best regards
Steve

Well that didn't take long....

Can you open the iris by pushing the little tab in the lens mount?

I have figured out what is wrong, but I am not sure what to do about it. The tab on the lens that moves to open the iris is all scratched up. It appears that instead of just pushing the tab from side to side, the screw has etched into the side of it. At first everything worked great, but over time I think it started to wear down. Now it doesn't work most of the time. If I disconnect the lens just a little and slide it back on, every few times it will make the iris control work again, but it last less and less each time. I've stopped using it until I figure out what to do, but I'm only in New York City through tomorrow evening.

Thanks

For now pick up a cheap adapter and tape it to full open iris.

That didn't take long...(again)
I've seen many lenses damaged that way with another brand of adapter with identical iris control mechanism.
IMO this is a design flaw and there isn't much that can be done other than be extremely careful when mounting the lens and making sure the tip of the control screw is out of the way when you mount it...
It is kind of hard to remember in the heat of the battle....
This is not a stab at anybody- just sharing my experience from about to years ago when I ran across this issue....
