I've done some searching around both on this forum and google and haven't come up with an answer so I wanted to post it. I start the story with my AF-100 took a fall off a slider several months back. At he time I was shooting on my new Lumix G Vario 12-35 f/2.8 lens. When the camera fell the LCD screen was out and that seemed to be where all the damage was done. It has since been replaced by a Panasonic authorized reseller who took my camera apart and cleaned it and checked all the connections. They agreed the only damage they could find was on the outside of the LCD screen so it was replace through Panasonic Finance Solutions.
However I have noticed that whenever I'm shooting with this lens now I run into the same problem with my iris locking up and then changing to auto iris. Here is how it has always happened:
I always keep focus / iris on manual and general shoot with ND1 and my zebra's at 70% and 90%. I turn my camera on after setting up lights a few lights. On my LCD screen I will see ND2 flash since my camera thinks it's to bright. This always hasn't been the case according to my zebra's. My iris is generally always at f2.8 but if I try to stop it down a little the iris nob (for lack of better word) wont change the iris. The knob itself can be moved up and down but I don't see the f stop move or see any visual difference in my picture. I've confirmed every time that it is indeed in manual iris. So my next choice is to switch my ND filter to ND2. When I do this my iris will stop all the way down to f/22. After this happens I have to hit my auto iris button and that will raise it back to f2.8 to f/4 range and then when I switch it back over to manual iris I have full control again. Has anyone else every experienced this?
This has happened to me about ten times now both in the field and in studio senerios. After I got through the described scenario I don't have another issue with it until I turn my camera back on after it has been off for several hours. It doesn't seem to happen when I change out batteries on the shoot. In trying to trouble shoot this myself I have reset my camera back to it's default settings and installed the latest firmware for the AF-100 again for good measure. I did finally find a firmware update for the 12-35 lens ver 1.2 last night (I was running 1.0) but after installing it I had the same issue still. Does anyone have any thoughts or do I need to get my unit replace before I finish paying it off and my insurance gets dropped on it.
Thanks in advance for any help!
