iris button keeps giving me invalid message

The iris button keeps giving me 'invalid' message both with lens off and on - lens on is a Canon one with adaptor.

I therefore haven't been able to control the aperture in the camera yet...

Any ideas?

You can't control EOS lenses from the AF100. You'd need a smart adapter, which doesn't exist. Birger promised one, repeatedly, but failed to deliver.

RedRock has an adapter that can control iris, but the controls are on the adapter, & it does not talk to the AF100, or provide power to IS lenses.

Adaptimax has an adaptor that can close and open canon lens iris but you don't know what your f stop is accept that you are fully wide open or closed down.

Are you sure about the Adaptimax?

I'd love to be wrong, but from what I've seen it doesn't have any electronics, so can't control aperture.

Adaptimax doesn't control iris on the adapter. You're probably thinking of the Kipon that has a built in iris blades.
