This is a brilliant wildlife film,i know it was filmed with pro cameras but try as have i cant find the cameras and lenses used to get used to get the close ups in the film,some post cropping may have been involved but not in all the close shots.

As far as I know it was RED Epic / Dragon with Canon HJ18 and Sigma 300-800.

Only just watched the film, and it didn't look much like Epic so I checked with the guys. I knew they have upgraded to Epics now but this was a couple of years ago and was actually shot on Varicam with HJ11 and HJ40. Plus Phantom slomo and EX1 underwater.

Surprised at that,the close ups and slow motion were realy good.But the http://www.abelcine.com/store/Panasonic-VariCam-2700-P2-HD-Camcorder/
specs still look pretty good.

Virtually every blue chip BBC wildlife programme has been tape and the P2 Varicam in 720P between Planet Earth and Frozen Planet inclusive. Life Story was the first big thing shot on Super 35 chip camera (Epic).
