IRE Level and ISO

Hey everyone,

I haven't used waveform monitors on a shoot yet, but will be in a few days. I plan to use my HVX with OnLocation, since I don't have a real monitor. The HVX is only being used for the waveform reading, not to record footage.

One thing that never occurred to me is whether the camera's ISO is in any way related to the IRE level shown in the waveform.

I am assuming that the IRE level is not "self-contained" and is relative to the given ISO. Is that correct?

Am I the only one that is confused by this? Does the HVX even have ISO? If your are talking about aperture and/or gain then yes it effects IRE. As does shutter speed and ND value.
