I know this has been touched on, but can't find it now. I filmed using Cine 1 and my max IRE in premiere pro is just under 100% it seems. How do you view the 109 that it's supposed to have?
With the current version of PPro you will need to add an effect and bring down the exposure. The Lumetri panel will clip the highlights so that won't work. Bring down the exposure first then use Lumetri.
Paul - Can you elaborate on why Lumetri will clip highlights? Is this an issue with LOG footage or any footage that Lumetri is applied to? I often use the Lumetri curves instead of the Lumetri's highlights and whites tools as curves seems to be more gentle on the data.
It's because slog and some cinegammas are recorded in "full range" (aka illegal or extended signal) which some NLE software may interpret as clipped "video levels".
I tested this out in the FCP X and brought in a hypergamma clip that went up to 109%. Even bringing down the brightness did not fix it. There was a plugin that addressed this issue for me, and thankfully in Davinci Resolve let's you bring the signal back down from what originally looked like it was clipped.
Paul - Thanks for the reply and article link. Do you recall what plugin you used to bring down exposure before applying Lumetri? Do you know if RedGiant Colorista will adjust highlights properly? I need to make DaVinci Resolve a regular part of my workflow, but I do like the Lumetri color tools for quick turnaround projects.
