Iraq in Fragments

I was wondering if anyone has seen this movie? I recently watched it and really enjoyed it. I was extremely impressed with the quality of image (shot on DVX 100/A). I know they blew it up to 35. Has anyone had the chance to see the print?

I saw the DVD. I thought it was a great film in several respects. Quite apart from the beautiful cinematography, I'm amazed he was able to get that kind of access.

The director mentioned somewhere that he had a bunch of footage of other people that didn't make it into the final film. I wish he could put together another film with that footage.

It was playing in my city and I missed the show. I'm still kicking myself for it.

Anyways, I was also greatly impressed by the film. Stunning footage. Any one who wants to make a film with the DVX, be it a doc, or a feature, must see this film.

This movie captures the essences of indie film making. Longley, the director, worked as a one man crew.

If anyone has seen the DVD, is there any good features on it, if so, I think I'll get me a copy.

Thanks

Just watched it on the weekend actually. It was a GREAT film, and I'm really glad I picked it up. I too was amazed at the amount of intimate access James Longley got to very intense situations. I don't watch enough documentaries, and if I knew that more were as compelling and well shot as this one, I certainly would.

As far as features go, the DVD has a 15 min (I think... correct me if I'm wrong) interview with Longley about the production of the film. I found it very interesting (it answered a lot of the questions I had when watching the film, such as 'how the hell did they let him shoot that?').

James Longley is also a member here, just FYI. If you search for "iraq" you'll come across numerous threads about the film and his process.
