iPod Video Format Question...

I have been a fan of the iPod video format, but I am not quite sure how to make the file downloadable.

Maybe I am doing something wrong from the get-go... do any of you guys use Adobe GoLive? If so, how do you usually go about adding Quicktime files to your pages so they are available for download?

Thanks guys!

I havent used golive, but, make sure that the actual quicktime is uploaded to your server. You should then just be able to right click-save that link. I know when I first started making webpages I would just drop a file into dreamweaver and expect it to work online. But, as I soon learned, the file has to exsist somewhere on a server, which is then linked to your page.

Hope that inst too much of an obvious answer. Like I said, never used golive, so i could be wrong.

Hi, just checked out your site. I think what you might want to do is just make a seperate button that links directly to the .mov files. That way they can be downloadable. Right now when you click the button to watch a video, a .htm page opens, and the movie plays within that, giving you no option to save. So, you can redesign your site or have a seperate link off to the side that will give a direct DL.

Hey Jim-

My assumption was that there would be an option somewhere along the line where it asks if everybody will be able to download the file (kind of like how you can turn the controller on or off).

Maybe is has something to do with the type of .html page it is on. My pages all load in one window (if you check out http://www.firsthourmovies.com you can get an idea)... maybe that has something to do with it. Probably not, but I am just trying to think of any possibilities.

Thanks!

Wow... you must have posted that seconds before my reply was sent! Crazy.

Is it pretty easy to make the seperately linked pages (the ones off to the side that everybody else kind of does)? That was my first intention, but when I was designing the site I just got lazy... you know how it goes. Hahah.

Thanks Jim!
