iPod AS a FIREWIRE CAPTURE DRIVE

Hi all, I have a question that may or may not have been discussed on this forum. I was wondering if it is possible to turn an old ipod into a Firewire capture drive for the DVX camera? Just like the Firestore drive works.

I have a 1gen iPod that the HD broke. I found a site that sells replacement drives for the iPod, all the way up to 60GB. If I am able to use it as a capture drive then I will purchase this new HD.

I wouldn't suggest it because the Ipod HD don't spin as fast as other drives. I would think it would be better to buy a Laptop Drive and External Enclosure

of course you "can" do it but if that's the only reason you are buying the other HD there are better means. Now if you want your MP3 player back as well then I guess it's ok.

No I don't need the ipod to work as an Ipod, so maybe I need to use the laptop drive and external enclosure.... Silver Wolf, How would you go about doing this process? I mean, how would you format the drive to work as a capture drive direct to digital vs. use of a mini dv tape? My only reason for using the Ipod was because it had its own power supply vs. an external drive would need some sort of power to run it.

Holy Cow, that looked complicated..... I may keep looking around and see if there are quicker ways to achieve this. I am just not ready to purchase the Firestore....
