iPhone X(S)(R)(MAX)

Yeah if they didn't see you actually shoot it using a phone, most people would not think it was from a phone and be perfectly happy

My first event with the iphone XS + Zhiyun Smooth 4 + Filmic Pro on Extreme bit rate mode. Went all the way from Boston to New York.

I've only used the Zhiyun Smooth 4 briefly at the house before I got their. Mostly to make sure it's working fine and to update the firmware. I was sitting down for all these clips since I didn't want to be in the way of other people and at the same time, I had surgery earlier this month. It's also why I didn't want to bring a tripod with me. Didn't want to have too much weight while recovering. I did stand for the last lion dance performance that isn't shown here. A lot of people have left by now. If I had stood for too long, I'd be in a little bit pain once I walk out of the park to a good spot to call an Uber. It's a very big park with a ton of soccer fields. Actual name is Flushing Meadows Corona park. For sure I need a little bit more practice holding it. One thing to keep in mind is that the it works better without a phone case on which is annoying. Since I might start to shoot a lot of events with this phone, I decided to get insurance with it but still. Filmic Pro was in auto exposure. Phone stabilizer was off.

Whether the average viewer could tell or care, I see small camera/cell phone jitter and electronic gimbal nastiness. Crazy for what it is, but to me, unacceptable on a professional level.

Don't forget the complete random shutter speed adjustments as a means to adjust exposure. No matter how good the pixels gets on smart phones it will always be the utter lack of aperture control that to me completely kills them for professional video work. Plus when we already laugh at m43 for "sucking" in low light the smartphones are absolute trash next to a GH4/GH5 when it comes to low light. Once the lights go down you might as well grab a 1/3" DV camera because it will ultimately look better than the mush called video from a smart phone.
