Iphone app?

can anyone make an iPhone app to control the exposure on the d90? i was thinking different screens with different shades of grays, whites, blacks to set the shutter speed/aperture to what ever it would be.

looking forward to see something like this!

Just create a range of greyscale images from white to black, no need for an application as such.

I dont think this is going to work too well alone, as ambient light around the screen changes in different settings, as well as the brightness and "punch" of the iPhone screen in daylight vs. a dark room. We need something consistent that provides the camera with the same shades of gray, or the same level of luminosity every time regardless of shooting in bright sun or a dimly lit room.

Something along these lines.

push the screen against the rubber shade? does the iphone backlight really change or does it just look dimmer when it's brighter?

i'm gonna take a plunge and get the lyte cap. if it doesn't work, hopefully i can sell it to someone who owns an hv20/30
anyone want to go half on it?

you can push the phone against the lens like matt said, you can turn the light sensors off and set the brightness to what ever level, i would make the app but i don't know how to :/

Push the lens / lens hood right up against the screen.

as well as the brightness and "punch" of the iPhone screen in daylight vs. a dark room.

The brightness can be set at a constant level so that it does not react to ambient light.

Not sure of any value of transmitted light called 'punch' (?)

If you have an iphone, it will do the trick. I suppose someone needs to try this out to confirm.

using some kind of animated interference patterns to set the shutter speed to a 50hz friendly setting would be nice. it would work by adjusting the brightness on the app until the pattern stops moving then locking it. assuming that the iphone's brightness is constant you could then save this and for the same lens at least and the same aperture you could get a 1/50s shutter every time.

it's probably a much higher frequency. but the screen refresh time might not be high enough, or the right frequency multiple...
