Ok, 2 things:

1) That link doesn't actually go to a video, but rather everyone's own uploaded video listing. For me, it showed *my* uploaded videos on youtube since I happen to be signed in to youtube. If someone wasn't signed in, it would probably just come back with an error page. Either way, we're not seeing what you wanted us to see because that link only works for *you*.

2) You can't. The iPad does not have a video in feed, nor does it accept any kind of video from the camera at all. The only thing you could do is possibly have a laptop or something connected to the camera via USB, using the Canon software suite to remotely view and rebroadcast an IP stream (using ustream or Orb, etc) to send a screen capture to a player on the iPad. This would be totally inefficient and slower than a remote desktop connection- in other words, the viewer's refresh rate and delayed reaction make this whole setup absolutely impractical for anything more than just "proof of concept".

Now, on the flipside, I've heard of folks doing some very interesting things with modified cameras on Android tablets. What they propose is to physically open up the body of the tablet, disconnect the camera and wire up a video feed input. Then, when one clicks the "camera" app, instead of seeing what the camera sees, you see what is being fed through the modded aux in jack. Technically, this *could* be done with any tablet that sports a camera (ipad2, etc), however this is also totally impractical as it would be less effort and cost to just buy a monitor. (Android just seems to attract DIY modders/hackers who like to tinker with this kind of thing- I can't imagine an iPad owner wanting to physically tinker with the innards of their "precious"!).

Does such a thing exist in the real world? That seems like a concept video, possibly motion tracked with AE. That would be fascinating if it existed.

It is a mockup I made in order to stimulate the creation of such a HDMI to or through Wifi adapter.

I splitted the screen. The right half was done first, then I loaded the video on the Ipad and recorded the left half. I even put a small wire as an antenna on the HDMI connector.

Come on, who will make this device?

Very cool, so the tech DOES exist! That's news!

But still quite expensive if the idea was simply to re purpose something you already own with a nice display (ie, an iPad) into an external viewer. For the money, you could buy a decent field monitor. If you need it to be wireless, there are cheap ways of splitting a video feed wirelessly that does not involve the complicated IP and WiFi connection this does.

Still, amazing proof of concept design!

I'd actually be more interested in seeing what ELSE you could do with this- I mean, it goes far beyond just monitoring a DSLR. Can you feed anything into the transmitter that is HDMI and watch it on an iPad? What about other devices (laptop, non-iOS tablet, heck once its over IP, what about a remote viewer back in the studio)?

yeah i have seen reports of people streaming live from the set to producers overseas and things like that. You can also use it for proxy recordings and things of that nature. It is far more useable than just streaming to an iPad.
