IO box screw thread size

Hi all, I've taken the plunge and gotten my hands on an old F35. Really random question, but does anyone know what the screw thread size is for the mounting holes on the back of the IO box? (Im thinking of bolting a bracket1 cage on for the black magic recorder).

Thanks!

It's a metric thread. The size is M4.

But if you are using a Hyperdeck Shuttle, you could ditch the IF-Box and mount the Hyperdeck straight to the camera saving size and weight. The monitor out SDI ports send 10-bit 422, which is all the Hyperdeck can record. The IF-Box is only a must for 444. You just need to make sure you are not sending any overlays out of the port as they will get recorded.

Best way to mount the Hyperdeck to the camera in my opinion is to use one of the Interface-bay covers, which also double as an accessory bracket. They have the same threaded holes you find on the back of the IF-Box. If your camera came with the complete kit you should have at least one of them. It's the part which seals the top Interface-bay when you are using the L-handle. The Top-handle attaches to the same part to allow it to be mounted to one of the Interface-bays.

While you need the cover which came with your kit to protect the unused Interface-bay, they show up on ebay from time to time. I'm also sure you can still order them straight from Sony. Although most likely not cheaply. I have several of them as they are very useful.

Mounting a Bracket1 cage to one of these covers will effectively give you a dockable Hyperdeck Shuttle, making for an elegant and clean solution.

I took the part off the back of the IF box which mounts to the dock. It's called the CA joint, you can buy them for $105 at Sony professional parts. I have 3 sitting at home if you want one.

The bigger problem is, you are going to want a new recorder soon. The hyper deck is cheap but it is old, many complain about the mini BNC's breaking. If you really wanted to save size/weight, why not get new black magic video assist and use that as EVF/recorder. Or the ninja blade. I was all about using the hyper deck without the IF box, but then I bought the 7Q and it really opens up new worlds with the F35. I would highly suggest the 7Q to pair with the F35, CD has shown they are actively committed to making this camera/combo work.image-1.jpgimage.jpg

thank you! I've got it bolted on the back of the IO box right now just borrowing a few screws from the top handle. Good to know about the monitor out. I am likely to need audio in, if only a scratch track (paranoia from my sound days), so for now Im playing with a solution that keeps that. That being said, the v-mount power supply I have is that beast of a AC-DN2B, so reducing mass/weight is likely to be a smart move...

That would kinda be amazing. pm me what you'd need for it. the 7Q+ is definitely what I eventually want to get, but I cant yet justify it cost wise (currently hunting some entry level PL glass so as to make the pretty pictures).

Potentially stupid question, does highspeed 422 color require dual IO boxes or just highspeed 444 on the Q7+? Or is the preferred highspeed capture method to bolt on the HDcamSR deck?

Thank You!

other silly question, is it still possible to find 2nd IO boxes for trying 444 50fps out (Im assuming this will require the q7+)?
