Invalid P2 card

Hi there, sorry if this was already discuss in an other topic, i did search but didn't find anything

so i got a very interesting problem;

I'm shooting out of town with my hvx200a when suddently my pana did stop recognize my p2 cards.So i tried some others cards, nothing, shut off the camera and removed the battery, reset camera two times and still the same problem. So i put my card in my laptop, open P2Viewer and no probem there...P2Viewer see it without any problem and all my footage is o.k....

So i recorded my three reports on DV, thanks god, i did put some tapes in my bag before leaving ;-) but tomorrow i fly to Halifax for a full week of shooting and i can't record all of it on DV because i will be below the specifications of the broadcaster.

Do you, guys, got an idea about it..?

just reformatted with P2 Card Format Station and it didn't work, i mean that the format was ok but nothing with the camera.

The hvx told me that my card is incompatible.

i don't think that the problem is with the card but with the camera.

The camera said that all of my cards(4) are incompatibles...but they are o.k. on my computer :-(

If the cards were working before and now they're not, it's not the firmware. Plus, Panasonic hasn't released a firmware update for the HVX200a yet, so you've got nothing to update anyway.
I wouldn't try installing the HVX200 firmware until/unless Panasonic announces that the firmware is cross-compatible between the two.

You may have bad cards, but it sounds like a bad HVX200a is more likely. Is there a rental house in the area? That could help you determine the problem so you can send the right parts in for service, plus get you the gear you'll need for your next gig.
 
thanks ProfessorU, i'm in halifax now, got an other hvx200a and my card works pretty well with it...

I think that my hvx200a is broken... :-(

I tried to find the update option on my hvx and didn't find anything...!!!!

Actually, the first slot sometime try to analyse the card and finish by telling me that the card is invalid, the second slot don't do nothing...
 
SO when you say suddenly, you mean the very same day, within minutes of it working earlier, the camera slot just stopped working, and you did absolutely nothing to the camera or card to change its functionality like bump it against a wall, get dirt on it, etc.? How many days/weeks/years had the camera been working (I assume flawlessly) before this happened?

Actually, i was in the thumnails menu trying to format one card, changed my mind, closed the menu and after that the slots stopped working for no reason.

I got this HVX200A since the end of may 2008 and never got a ounce of a problem before. Since i got it, i went to florida, nevada, arizona, california, alberta, british columbia, quebec and now nova scotia. The last time i look at it, i got more than 250hrs on it.
