Into the Wild

Haha, I think that would have left it a bit TOO loose in editing. Though, there's no denying Malick knows how to film nature.

Just watched it on DVD, loved the book. I played Counterstrike online for a year as Alexander Supertramp.

I thought the movie was pretty good. It was flattering to Chris and idealistic. I am not sure about the editing. I applaud the effort to make a film with a unique style, but some didn't work for me (looking into the camera, etc).

I don't think it was necessarily flattering to Chris' idealism. This was, of course, portrayed, but at the same time there was always a hint of the negative consequences, of the truth, boiling under the surface. It's interesting to see how his idealism (and negativity about society) slowly disintegrates. It is renewed at the end, but in a completely different light.

Saw this in theaters a while ago. I really enjoyed most of it.

SPOILERS

I didn't like when he stared directly into the camera while eating the apple. Felt like an outtake...

totally agree, that was awful and should have been cut.

Watched it, and yet again like so many other films before, the book version is usually always better than the film version.

It does not entertain in a traditional way. And my feeling is the average filmgoer will hate it.

I watched the film with my parents and sister. My sister didn't like it, but my parents loved it - and they're the closest you can get to "cinematic lay-persons". I think the film has a quality that can make it immensely entertaining, even to the common filmgoer.
