"Interview" follow up...?

I recently did a short (15 seconds) video to show a company that I know what I'm doing in After Effects, and I sent it to the guy last week. He sent me a message Thursday saying he would view it "today or tomorrow" and keep me posted. It's Tuesday. I'm anxious. How do I properly follow up to that? Every correspondence has been via e-mail. And each time I start a new message, I realize I'm wording things poorly:

"Mr. xxxx,
Hey dude..."

"Mr. xxxx,
I know that you said you were going to check this out last week, so ..."

"Mr. xxxx,
I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to apply for this position, and I was just curious as to if you've had a chance to watch the short video I made..."

I can't seem to word it in the way that doesn't seem too informal, nor too pushy. Ideas? How long should I be waiting before sending this out?

Forget the first two and go with the last example

Give it another day or two. If you have not heard back,:

Mr. XXXX (strange name by the way)

It was an honor to have had the opportunity to showcase a few of my skills to you on DD/MM/YY. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if we/I can further assist you in your goals.

Hawk, I found this works for me. It says, "ok, ball is in your court, but if you do not contact me, no more contact, it's a waste of my time pursuing you on this" But done in a nice way.

It's like acting. if you don't get a callback after an audition, you didn't get the part.

Thanks Doc!

Yeah, I know what you mean by not getting a callback. I just wish they'd say, "I think we're going a different direction" or "No way. You're terrible." That way at least I would know.

Agreed, not hearing back is one of my biggest pet peeves, at least have the decency and professional courtesy to tell me no instead of leaving me hanging. It's hard to wrap my head around how people with sub-par communication skills are considered leaders in a communication-dependent field. I think the example Doc gave will work really well and would definitely wait until tomorrow. Tuesdays seem to be when people get to their "to-do" lists from the previous few days

Your third one was pretty good. Not too formal. But solid and to the point. But, I'd break it up into two sentences. As in, "I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to apply for the After Effects editor position (Or whatever the position is called). I am hoping you've had a chance to watch the short video I made and am eager..."
