These two black bars ruined my recording. Have anyone seen anything like this in their own cameras?

I restarted the camera and both bars went away. I cant see any image degradation in the footage from after, and the bars have not reappeared.

Hmmm. Well, I bet you could do a fair bit of recovery with After Effects if the shot is important. But that's definitely odd.

So after i sent them some emails about the issue and info regarding the error, Sony called me to discuss this issue. Within minutes they told me they have never seen this issue before, but something is definetly wrong with my camera so they are shipping a new camera to me asap.

Very nice prime support, thank you Sony.

Hope i never see this again :-)

Good to hear that. Could it be moist inside your camera? From warm to cold temperautures, warming up camera etc?

Ive thought the same, but the camera did not experience rough temperature changes.

The shot was taken outside a cabin early in the morning. So there was around -1 degree / +1 degree celsius outside, while the camera had been inside at around +10 degrees during early hours before we lit the stove. Add to the massive moisture in the air (the cloud banks are definetly moist, and covering all the valleys and the cabin, including the camera), and maybe we have a culprit. But i think a camera designed with outdoor shooting in mind should handle such trivial circumstances. My Sony A7 II did not react at all and that was shooting timelapses for hours and during even colder hours earlier that morning.

There was zero moisture visible on either camera, lens, or tripod. There was no condensation occurring, rather the oposite. The fog banks in the picture are condensation that is lifting from the landscape and drying up as the new day begins.

When i restarted the camera everything was fine, and i set up a new interval recording with the exact same temperature and moisture conditions, and that went perfectly fine for around 20-30 minutes without any visible errors in the image (i have not pixel peeped it).
